Ilane Birkby has successfully secured the registered managers position along with ian pickering becoming the new assistant manager, Sharon Mordlock will remain an active director at the project

The development plans have now been successfully carried out taking the facility to 29 beds with day care at 14

CQC carried out a full unannounced inspection spent seven hours on site speaking to the residents and ensuring we are compliant with essential standards of quality and safety, we were given an excellent report which can be accessed via the widget above

Outcomes have been excellent in 2012 the NTA recently visited and spent a full day exploring the facility and speaking with both residents and day care clients, they appeared very curious and intrigued at the same time

Base camp happened off we all went 35 individuals in total giving a little back to the National Trust, our thanks go to Rob and the team hope to see you next year, during the working holiday our forth wave of service user consultation took place. Prior to the event data from all residents was taken in relation to their needs being met by the programme, along with this gathering process a full day was spent exploring the programme itself with no distractions from the usual every day organised chaos of residential rehab. All data gathered will be key in How the service grows in 2013

As an organisation we welcome the Department of Healths three year TRACER study where the effectiveness of residential rehab can be quantified financially, we have already subscribed to the process and are excited to be part of the process we also would like all facilities to engage who post with NDTMS

Chris t has secured a part time post at Shardale along with our bank of volunteers building up to twelve.

The training programmes have now been developed for all staff and volunteers all volunteers now as standard can access an excellent level of on line training along with work based NVQ'S in health and social care up to level three

Ilane Birkby now centre manager
-  Ilane becomes the Registered Manager as Dale Mordlock takes a more detached role to concentrate on Outcomes and the continued improvement of the service and possibly another facility!!!

Latest Inspection report coming soon.....

The facility has recently been extended to accommodate 26 residents, due to demand this has been the second increase since we became operational in April 2010.

We are currently coming up to our second birthday and since April 2011 we have had 36 completions of the nine month programme, stats have been posted on line via NDTMS since summer of 2011 and the results have been very impressive all stats that have been posted can be accessed via the NDTMS website.

We are advised that we are currently the biggest independent deliverer of Alcohol rehabilitation in the North west of England we can now accommodate 26 residents in the house and 12 in Day Care Provision.

After our third wave of resident consultation evidence is clear that our solid belief that service evolution which has been client focused has a tremendous effect on the quality of the service and the all important factor of retention/outcomes, a forth period of resident consultation in relation to service evolution will commence in the Summer, based on our findings the service will evolve again.

Several members of staff now at Shardale are ex-residents this has been a fantastic process for all concerned especially the residents as anyone who has experienced a quality treatment programme will know at times there is no better guide than someone who has been through it themselves.

Retention rates currently are the best they have been since the facility started back in 2010 "residential", the first seven months of Shardale produced the poorest retention rates however for those who actually completed they are still around today, as we have progressed to the current way of working a snap shot of the current rate of retention is as follows, since the beginning of 2012 we have only seen five unplanned discharges and two of these were in excess of twelve weeks, again current stats can be viewed via NDTMS.

The personalisation agenda has been thoroughly embraced by all at Shardale and is currently firmly in place for L.C.C residents, the modern fresh approach to how we deliver treatment has been an essential component also on how our service is delivered, there is an independent drop down box relating to personalisation.

Currently Shardale has developed relationships/contracts with eleven purchasing authorities and tenders will be submitted as part of our development strategy next year 2013.

The trek to base camp, yes it's back on due to many different reasons the trek to base camp in November 2011 was cancelled however it's back on in November 2013. Sean and Dale who are employees of Shardale are doing the trek for charity. the charity which has been chosen is Bliss, the charity has special meaning for both walkers as they have experienced directly the issues relating to premature births.

More details relating to the trek will be posted along with fund raising events.

Trip to the lakes for all staff and residents planned for 2012 a repeat of Abegavveny last year but that bit nearer.

Congratulations to Ilane B who has recently completed her ILM level 5 "well done", Elley has had two new additions to the family "well done", "well done" Sharon M your still married.
